On Wednesday night, David Beckham’s first MLS season with the LA Galaxy came to an early end. After a tackle with a player on Pachuca, Becks sprained his right medial ligament in his knee. This means that after playing only 310 minutes in six games at a guaranteed salary of $6.5 million per year, he will not be able to play in any more games for Galaxy in the 2007 MLS season, yet still make bank. He will also miss all of England’s Euro 2008 qualifiers. The estimated recovery time is about 6 weeks, pretty much the length of the rest of the MLS season with the exception of 3 games. All in all for the true Galaxy supporters, this injury came at the right time. His ankle needed 3-4 weeks to properly heal, he won’t get another random injury in Euro 2008 qualifiers, his knee sprain is fully recoverable, and he will be 100% healthy for next season when Galaxy can get there upper-management sorted out. Its a shame he won’t play for England in the Euro qualifiers but he still has the actual Euro 2008 tourny next summer. Source: SI, LA Times Filed under: Athletic Life and David Beckham Comments:
